Day 1Arriving in the Okavango Delta Arriving in the Okavango Delta The safari starts in Maun. You are met at the airport and assisted for the check in of the local flight to your lodge. Your adventure begins as you touch down on the Kanana airstrip after a scenic flight from Maun. On arrival, your guide welcomes you and whisks you away through the bush to camp. After settling into your spacious, canvas tent, you have time to relax on your private deck with a view over the wetlands. That afternoon, you head out on your first safari—perhaps a gentle mokoro excursion through lily-dappled channels (water level dependent) or a guided walk in search of rare birds. As the sun sets, you return to camp for a candlelit dinner beneath the stars. On arrival, you’re met by your Shinde guide and taken to camp, where the elevated walkways and tranquil lagoon views immediately captivate. That afternoon, you embark on a game drive through the woodlands, where you might encounter lion, giraffe, and the elusive leopard. The evening brings a warm fire, gourmet dining, and the sounds of the bush as your nighttime soundtrack. Rise early for a sunrise game drive, perhaps catching a pack of wild dogs on the move or watching a pride of lions as they finish a night’s hunt. Return for breakfast, followed by a leisurely mokoro outing or motorboat cruise through the lagoons—perfect for photography and quiet observation. In the afternoon, you might opt for a walk with your guide, learning about the tracks and signs of the Delta, or experience a night drive revealing a different world: bush babies, genets, and other nocturnal creatures come to life. Shinde is a permanent land and water camp currently, water activities will vary as per the water levels.
